Activities around Windsong Farm
Activities at Windsong Farm and the surrounding area are as varied as your interests and energy level.
The sight of Mount Oxford outside your window may inspire you to climb through the Oxford Forest still alive with native birds. Or, you might head off for a mountain bike adventure over the Wharfedale Track, for a swim in Ashley Gorge or for a round of golf overlooking the Waimakariri River. Ski fields are an easy 45 minute drive away.
Guided walks of varying length and intensity can readily be arranged as your hosts are avid walkers. Catherine enjoys introducing visitors to the flora and fauna of the Oxford Forest. Picnic lunches can also be arranged with prior notice. Other guests will enjoy an escorted walk or drive around the farm. David provides interesting insight into many aspects of New Zealand farming.
A short drive away is the burgeoning village of Oxford. Local cafes, gift shops, a weekly Farmer's Market and a supermarket cater to all needs.
More formal activities can be arranged such as horseback riding at Kowhai Farm, a cooking class at Jo Seagar's "Seagar's at Oxford, Cook School and Cafe", or jetboating on the Waimakariri River.
Whatever fancy strikes you, your hosts will ensure that your stay is designed to please.
