Your Hosts
After coming to New Zealand from the United States for a year's sabbatical, the Boyer family decided to settle in Oxford in 2003. Owning a small farm in the States, David practiced as a real estate lawyer and Catherine was a small animal veterinarian. After visiting friends on the North Island who encouraged them to follow their hearts, they returned to New Zealand to farm full time.
With the help of their three children and wonderful friends and neighbors, they now face the challenges of running a 200 acre deer, goat and cattle farm on ecologically sustainable principles.
Catherine manages the animal health and landscaping of the farm, developing extensive native and exotic gardens. David handles all of the main day-to-day activity of the farm and cultivates an organic garden and orchard. This year he hopes to make his first vintage from the pinot noir and chardonnay grapes planted last year. The children are active workers and helpers in between school and sport commitments.
Your final hosts are our cat, Puck, and rambunctious black labrador retriever, Woody.
